Raised by a filmmaker/painter, my five siblings and I were essentially home schooled in art by our father in his studio in Connecticut. I continued to study art through high school and college. Majoring in literature, I graduated from the University of Colorado in 1990 then, moved back east to begin an apprenticeship in film production in New York City. Cinematography was my focus as I worked through the camera department, from studio manager, to director of photography. I was fortunate to earn opportunities to lens and light a wide range of projects from music videos, documentaries, short films, TV pilots and commercials. As I developed my craft as a cameraman in advertising, I was offered representation with opportunity to direct spots for MacGuffin Films ltd. I value that directing inspires the great process of collaboration to draw a story, seeing thought give way to creation as many points of view become one.
