Yisel Duque was born in Cuba. Inspired by the lush musical landscape of her native Havana and her own home, where local artists would gather for impromptu jam sessions, she began singing at the young age of four. As a teenager, she started working on the local music scene singing at corporate and social events and as a session singer recording jingles for different radio and television shows.
Yisel attended University of Miami School of Music in 1993, to study Jazz Vocal Performance. She was chosen by record producers to sing on various projects for Major labels. Since graduating she has been affiliated with various publishing companies such as Sony Music Publishing, Universal Music Publishing, Musical Productions, and Sonolux.
She has sung backing vocals for Roberto Carlos, Chayanne, Gloria Estefan, who she’s been touring with since 2002, Juan Gabriel, Carole King, Jose Luis Rodriguez, Arturo Sandoval, Alejandro Sanz, John Secada, Shakira and Olga Tanon, among others. She is currently working again with Chayanne as part of his “No Hay Imposibles” tour that began in 2010 and continues to write and co–write songs for herself and other artists.
